The site is intended to act as an information centre (sort of virtual notice board) for STOCKS Golf Club Members in Aldbury, Herts. This home page simply attempts a basic intro with a couple of howto's, the odd 'wherefore' and a map of STOCKS from the air (courtesy of google)) the other pages will tend to be (only with your feedback) more newsworthy.

Site Summary

Having set up stoxgolf.com when we had neither a physical noticeboard nor a paying membership - I hoped it may act as a conduit to maintain an interest in STOCKS, it′s now in its 3rd year and clocked up a tally of over 9,000 over 10,000 separate visits (some 30,000 pages seen!) In September 2006 the vast majority of us were more than happy to accept Mr Harris's invitation to pay £40 p. month (+ VAT) and some 240 enjoy a golf course that′s kept in great condition. As long as I get positive feedback I will endeavour to keep you informed of monthly competitions, events and whatever news I am aware of. Your Contributions and Feedback are not only welcome – they are necessary.

Membership List and Contact Detail and News Letters

The Harris Office have supplied a list of names of all of us who pay the £47 per month (approx. 220 men and 30 Ladies). From time to time I publish a few notes to all the members who have sent me their email address (some 200 of you at the moment). If you want to be on (or off) the list or need to inform me of an email address change then email me with your detail - I will only use them for the occasional news letter, delivering prize vouchers (for competition winners)  for entry into the Summer Knockouts and for handicap queries. How to Navigate this site

The box of clickable items on the left will transfer you to the relevant pages. IN the GROUPS option I've just tried to give a newcomer a brief introduction to some of STOCKS social groupings (Ladies, sWindle, Seniors. STOCKMANS etc). The FEEDBACK option prompts you to send me an email telling me me what providing some news to publish. The clickable news items on the RHS are intended to lead you directly to the relevant paragraph (usually on another page). As I update the site fairly frequently it is worth clicking your browsers 'refresh" option to ensure you are not just viewing old pages from your local cache.

Nerdy Change - 1st Page Redirection

For technical reasons (:-) I have changed the names of most of the pages of the web site to end in .shtm rather than the previous .htm. As some of you will have saved/bookmarked the previous address for direct entry and it is no longer valid I have temporarily set up a redirection page. You can now of course re-book mark a page and it should work.  You may also have noticed the new icon next to the web site address in your browser address space - it is of course an image of the cedar tree that used to be our logo. As I am not getting any adverse feedback I may assume all is functioning ok - please don't hesitate to tell me if you experience problems. (I took the new header pics on Friday 26th September)

The Author

Over the last eleven years I've had the privilege of arranging most of the Men's Golf Competitions -  I suppose I just find it hard to stop! Apart from serving as Men's Competition Secretary and now acting as Club Secretary (at least for the men's side) now I've also (since the inception of stoxgolf - my "first web child") spent the last years designing other (commercial) sites using dynamic xhtml, with various web tools and even getting them to bubble up the google charts .. : Richard (Gale) @infomatix.co.uk
